And a New Year is about to begin!
Gee, it's been almost a year since I've posted anything here and the year is fast coming to a close. So much has happened!
The big Much is my house - a real house that's all mine and the mortgage company's. I certianly didn't figure that would happen at the start of the year. I didn't think I could get a mortgage with my credit rating. Having Linda's (from city hall) sister as my agent was the best thing I've ever done. She worked her butt off for me and found me the almost perfect house.
Pam knows her stuff and worked with me for months. I thought I wanted a bungelow. What I really wanted was a California Arts and Crafts cottage. Well, those were way out of my price range. I would have like to have stayed in Rochester, but I couldn't afford a house there, so I ended up in Madison Heights where I work. The nice thing is that I can get to work in about 7 minutes with heavy traffic. I can sleep in later, too. THAT gives me a happy.
The house is a ranch on a very deep crawl space so the windows are all six feet off the ground for the most part. Gives me a feeling of safety. There are hardwood floors and the two bedrooms that are carpeted also have hardwoods. My bedroom has part of the addition so not all of the floor is hardwood. So, I have to have carpeting in the addition and my bedroom. There's a jacuzzi in one bathroom and the bath I'm using for me has a doublewide shower stall. It's really nice. The kitchen is the main problem. Not enough cupboard space for everything. I've got to find a rolling island so I can have more storage and counter space.
I'd really like to be able to expand the kitchen. Maybe not so much expand it, but rearrange the working space. The living room will become the dining room - I'm supposed to get mom's dining room suite - and the family room will be the living room - craft area. The ghastly purple room will be the office and the Mickey Mouse room will be the guest room and dressing room for me. Right now there's lots of closet space, but that will fill up rather quickly, I'm sure. I do have a huge shed out back for Christmas stuff and anything else I want to put out there.
So, the Big Adventure begins. Life as a homeowner!!!
